Media blocks let you insert media such as images, videos, and links into your worksheet.

Supported file types in Scibly

Scibly supports:
  • Image: png, jpg, jpeg, gif, webp, svg
  • Video: mp4, ogg
You can also embed media from external sources:
  • Images from any website URL
  • Videos from platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

Media block types

Images

Scibly makes it easy to add, resize, and arrange images in any common format (JPG, PNG, GIF, etc.). You can drag and drop an image into a worksheet, upload an image block, or embed an external image by URL.
  1. Type /bild in the worksheet editor and press Enter.
  2. Click “Bild hochladen” or embed an image from an external URL.

Videos

Like images, you can drag and drop a video into a worksheet, upload a video block, or embed a video from an external URL.
  1. Type /video in the worksheet editor and press Enter.
  2. Click “Video hochladen” or embed a video via URL.
Preview links are a great way to show students a preview of a website before they open it.
  1. Type /vorschau in the worksheet editor and press Enter.
  2. Enter the website URL and the display text you want shown in the worksheet.

Positioning and resizing

To reposition a media block, use drag and drop. You can also move media blocks into columns. To resize, hover over the block until you see black handles on the left and right edges. Click and drag one of the handles to resize.

Inspect

If you need a closer look, you can inspect an image by double-clicking it.

Alignment

To change media alignment in your worksheet:
  1. Hover over an image or video and click the -icon.
  2. Choose left, center, or right alignment.

Limits

You can upload an unlimited number of images and videos, but each file has a size limit:
  • Image: 5 MB
  • Video: 300 MB
